Halema‘uma‘u crater is home to Pele (pronounced Peh-lay in English), the deity of the volcano. Seen both as the creator and destroyer of land, she is revered and feared in Hawaiian lore.
The lehua blossom-festooned ‘ōhi‘a tree is one of the first plants to grow on new lava and is considered sacred to Pele. As long as the earth is alive with earthquakes and lava flows, Pele lives on in our hearts and minds.
This army green short sleeve T-shirt is made of 100% cotton, with artwork by pioneer artist and illustrator Dietrich Varez. Varez was known for his uniquely Hawaiian linocut prints.
